The Miracle Morning: Create a Magical Start to Your Day

When you wake up on the ‘wrong side of the bed’ it easily can set your entire day off kilter. Whether the day ahead is busy or full of relaxation, starting your morning right is the key to having a fulfilling day. Recently, I had the pleasure of discovering the book ‘The Miracle Morning’ by Hal Elrod. In this book, Hal walks the reader through his six ‘life SAVERS’ and provides a wide variety of ways someone can do the ‘SAVERS’ in order to create a morning routine that leads the individual to a productive day. Funny enough, with my obsession over the years to understand what the most successful folks do in their mornings, I found myself already adopting many of the ‘SAVERS’ in my own morning routine organically. The book reignited my passion to be more conscious with my morning habits and I added in a few extra steps that have dramatically impacted my life.

So what are these ‘SAVERS’?

  • Silence

  • Affirmations

  • Visualization

  • Exercise

  • Read

  • Scribe (I am not joking you, scribing is one of them)

Hal explains in the book that you can do these SAVERS for 2, 5, 10, 20 minutes each depending on your bandwidth and intentional needs. As a guilty snoozer myself, I have found that crafting a routine that I look forward to in the morning is the key to helping me get out of bed and excited for the day. Sometimes I may lay in bed a little longer, sometimes I hop right out. Sometimes I get so into my reading that I don’t have time for my workout. Your mornings may be unpredictable, but having a routine that puts you into the mood to conquer your day is well worth the investment of your time, even if it is only a few minutes or you sprinkle the ‘SAVERS’ throughout your morning.

SAVERS in Action

For example, my typical day starts with hitting snooze! My snoozing though is sitting up in my bed, eyes closed and envisioning my day ahead, visualizing my goals, or sitting in silence pondering my dream until the alarm sounds. This quickly and joyfully knocks off the ‘S’ or the ‘V’. Following this I’ll have warm water while reading a book that challenges me like ‘Loving What Is’ or ‘The Untethered Soul’. After reading and knocking out my ‘R’ I cross ‘S’ for scribe off the list. I’ll do morning pages, goal setting, lists, whatever flows most to write. I’ll hop out of bed and do a quick ‘E’ for exercise in less than ten minutes before getting ready and leaving the house.

Did I forget one? Nope!

In the car ride on the way to work I’ll say my ‘A’ for affirmations out loud. It’s a great way to focus positive energy into your commute and pump yourself up for a highly productive day. Affirmations also help you to rewire your brain’s neurological pathways so when you come across negative stimuli at work or home, you and your brain are better equipped to approach problems and projects from a positive perspective. Also, if you’re a believer in ‘Law of Attraction’, affirmations are a great way to align your thoughts to your goals so you can achieve your dreams.

My Challenge for You

Whether you work from home or head into an office, challenge yourself to try adding at least three of the SAVERS into your morning routine to help you transition from the peace of your bed into the excitement of shaping your best life. Many folks who work from home attest to the benefits of still having a routine of getting ready for the day to help their minds transition between relaxing and working. This also means finding a routine to help you end your work day and transition back into relaxation would be fun to consider.

What do you do for your morning routine? What do you look forward to in the morning? Let me know in the comments!
